Gallery Arcturus
Toronto, Ontario
Constructed in the late 1800’s as a semi-detached residence for two brothers, the property was purchased from Girl Guides to be converted to an art gallery, galley shop, foundation offices, studios and guest residences for visiting artists. A major structural intervention was required, as a recent parking garage to the north of the property had caused slippage of the building to the rear into the garage excavation. The concept for the gallery was to retain and restore the heritage building to the maximum extent possible, while incorporating the adaptive reuse of the buildings.
