Elgin Bay Club Residential Condominiums
Lake Couchiching, Orillia, Ontario
Located in ‘cottage country’ on Lake Couchiching, part of the Trent Severn waterway system between Lake Ontario and Georgian Bay/Lake Huron, this area had not had a major new hotel constructed since the 19th century. Mark Hall identified this waterfront site situated on a former logging/processing area in historic Orillia as a prime opportunity for construction of a condominium residence reminiscent of the former historic hotels in the region.
With partners Murray Anderson and Ken Pagel Mark formed a real estate development company, Mariposa Land Development Company, to plan, design, build and sell a 54 unit condominium residence on the Orillia waterfront. This $20 million project is now completed, fully sold out and occupied. Following many years of relatively modest small scaled development in the region, this project has influenced construction of other multi-unit condominium residences and downtown Orillia redevelopment as well as other new development elsewhere on Lake Couchiching and the region. The project has underground parking, a 20-unit marina, rooftop lounge/recreation area and is a short walk to the historic downtown Orillia. MW HALL CORPORATION served as planner/urban designer for the project, working with Turner Fleischer Architects Inc. who served as architects.
