Port of Los Angeles, California
Distribution and Auto Services is the import arm of the Nissan Motor Company. This project is their headquarters for the United States as well as the location where automobiles imported from Japan are outfitted with special order equipment prior to shipment throughout North America. The site included two major buildings, and three smaller, support buildings.
Located in the Port of Los Angeles on seismically sensitive soils, the project was designed to accommodate the State of California Building Code relative to seismic design. Utilization of natural light in the main industrial building created an improved work environment. State of the art industrial processes were incorporated in an economical project which reflects the new image of Nissan in North America.
Mark Hall was president and founding principal of ARCHIPLAN urban design collaborative, a multi-disciplinary consulting firm in Los Angeles, California which was architect for the project.
