DESCRIPTION
Based upon a field visit with planned construction contractor, it was determined to totally replace the existing glass block stair wells with new fire rated construction which would be compatible with the adjacent heritage church, which was originally responsible for construction of the complex. Glass block glazing was removed and adjacent walls sealed with foamed insulation to prevent moisture transfer. Steel stud walls with fire rated glass assemblies were installed. The wall was finished on the interior with standard drywall and trims, and on the exterior with asphalt shingles and trims to match the adjacent church building.
